LADY@LXG: Taking hydration to a new level is NUXE Crème Fraîche® de Beauté

I now have a new favourite skin care range that I just can't live without. Its Nuxe's Crème Fraîche® de Beauté range. Yes the entire range. I kid you not. With its 24-hour boost of hydration and delightful botanical concoction of eight plant milks, this range is the perfect solution for those with dehydrated, combination or sensitive skin.

  (and for all your grammar Nazis out there, yes I used the word "range" three-times in the same sentence, get over it already).

But before we look at the line of products under this range, lets first understand what causes our skin to become sensitive. Sensitive skin is often caused when water stored in the dermis becomes scarce and its circulation from one layer to another is impeded and can no longer be held inside the epidermis. This causes the skin to become dehydrated from below. When this happens, skin becomes dry and uncomfortable and ages prematurely. To prevent this, I believe its important to select your skin care based on your skin condition as opposed to what works for your friend or what is currently on offer. Be selective, choose your skin care based on what YOU need! 

Sérum Crème Fraîche® de Beauté priced at $8,5  is my go to serum every morning and evening. Especially after laser treatment. The texture of this serum is unlike most  which tend to be more silky and oily. This serum is so light its almost like a watery lotion and absorbs upon contact with the skin.  A definite must-have for those of you with dry, dehydrated and thirsty sensitive skin.

Masque Crème Fraîche® de Beauté priced at an affordable $48, this cream masque will change the way you look at masques. Extremely light weight and delicately scented, I just apply a thin layer over clean skin - I personally use it over the serum - and in 10-minutes your parched skin is deeply hydrated and fine lines, dullness and overall flakiness is a thing of the past. The best part, you do not have to clean it off. Its not greasy and it absorbs instantly, leaving skin plumped and younger looking. I usually use this under make up before an evening out or over night twice a week.

Crème Fraîche® de Beauté Light priced at $65, this is what I am currently using twice a day. This super light, almost water like lotion hydrates but leaves skin matte and manageable and is perfect for sensitive and combination skin.

Crème Fraîche® de Beauté Enrichie priced at $45 (30 ML tube) this is perfect for those of you with very dry, sensitive skin. This rich buttery cream absorbs instantly and leaves skin plumped but not greasy. A definite must, in out humid climate.

LADY@LXG: A Natural Solution for Dry Skin

If you are a frequent reader of this blog you will be aware that I am a huge fan of Kneipp. I absolutely love all their products. And you will also know that I have rather dry skin, probably due to all those showers I keep taking (3 - 4 a day, yes really) since I have an aversion to smelling less than fresh.

It has a delicate almost floral scent (no it does not smell of almonds), absorbs quickly, improves elasticity and leaves your skin feeling soft and silky and most importantly, not greasy. In fact, I use this oil every night now that I used up all my Jasmine and Argan oil. I have decided to alternate between the almond blossom and the jasmine and argan body oils, as they are both very light weight (the almond blossom is actually more light weight) smell lovely and keeps my skin silky smooth.

Kneipp® Almond Blossom Gentle Body Wash is specially formulated with natural plant-based ingredients for dry skin. If you like foaming washes, this is not for you. This body wash is lovely and perfect for someone like me who is constantly showering but doesn’t want their skin to dry out. it cleanses very gently but thoroughly. Rich almond and jojoba oils nourish the skin and help maintain its natural protective layer so skin feels clean, scented and soft. 

The body wash which comes in a 200 ML tube retails at SGD 18.90

Kneipp® Almond Blossom Hand Cream I actually have a tube of this miracle hand cream in my kitchen, in both my toilets and beside my bed, so that I have no excuse not to moisturize my hands every time I wash them. Made with sweet almond oil, avocado oil, Panthenol (Provitamin B5), Bisabolol, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), it keeps hands and cuticles soft and scented! If you have brittle nails or rough hands, do give this hand cream a try. It really does work as well as much more expensive products that I have tried.

Guys, why should you consider a foot care regimen? Well its pretty obvious really... It will keep your feet looking and feeling better, will help prevent painful calluses, minimize odour, and women will definitely appreciate the effort made...

Simply put, men who take care of themselves make a better impression. No one wants to look at gnarly toes sticking out of sandals in summer or give a foot massage to someone who has cracked and calloused feet. Additionally, if you do suffer from painful calluses or corns, regular foot maintenance will help these troublesome issues.

General foot care for men includes a few necessities followed by additional care specifically tailored to each man’s needs. First - and most obvious, keep toenails cut. It is very easy to forget about toenails to the point where they are too long. A painful chip or worse can be a good reminder to keep those nails short. Implementing weekly care is essential, and much less painful.

Remove calluses with a pumice stone or other tool designed for this purpose. There are many on the market, and you’ll likely find that you prefer some to others. After you remove calluses, use a moisturizer. This will help prevent further buildup and is good for your feet.

If you’re in metrosexual mood, consider having a pedicure on occasion. It’s not simply just a woman’s thing anymore - many men enjoy the benefits of a pedicure and make them a regular part of their foot care regimens. Pedicures come with a foot and lower leg massage, full nail care, callus treatment, and moisturizing.

But fortunately for us boys, who are often slow to take the initiative... those clever people at Kneipp have given us yet another super-efficient, do-it-yourself solution

 

The first step in their recommended regime for healthy feet is something of a luxury for anyone: a bath in Kneipp® Foot Bath Crystals (S$37.45, 500g):

The foot bath has a triple-effect by cleansing tired and burning feet, soothing and invigorating them.

Additionally, it helps increase circulation due to the invigorating action of essential Rosemary Oil.

Calendula blossom-extract regenerates and smooths sensitive and stressed areas. Feet should be bathed for about 10 minutes in ankle-deep water.

And I can tell you, after 8 straight hours on my feet, this is sheer bliss...
 
The second step includes Kneipp® Foot Butter (S$34.90, 100ml), a buttery and rich cream which has emollient and moisturizing properties due to its ingredients: Shea butter, Panthenol, 10% Urea, and Vitamin E. This combination intensively caters to the foot’s dry skin.

Simply apply a thin layer of Foot Butter, and massage evenly into skin applying soft pressure. Because of its rich skincare properties, the Foot Butter is especially suitable for diabetics. Furthermore, it has also been shown to help prevent Athlete’s Foot.

Kneipp also have an effective solution for callused, coarse and cracked skin-areas: Kneipp® Anti-Callus-Salve (S$27.90, 50ml). If needed, apply Salve several times a day to callused areas and massage softly into feet.
