LIFESTYLE@LXG: Shannon discovers EHA Skincare!

I have heard a lot about EHA Skincare from my friends but since I have been out of town for a while, I never actually got to visit the store, until recently.
Located on Level 3 at Shaw Centre in Orchard, EHA Skincare is a small store packed with fantastic skincare goodies.

With its range of skin care products from Japan, USA, France and Canada that are made specifically for Singapore's blistering heat and humid temperatures.

Their range of makeup that are actually good for your skin, the store is truly a great discovery for a beauty junkie like myself.

For my first visit to the store, I picked up a Luscious Lip lipgloss, which is not just a gloss (which I am not too partial to, it being so sticky and all that) but a medicated product, full of skin healthy ingredients.
This gloss provides more than a wash of sheer colour, instead, it also promises to heal, add volume and fix common lip woes, like flaky, dry and pigmented lips.

Because I was out of my usually pressed powder, I decided to pick up a compact by INGIRL STINN, a Taiwanese purely mineral brand of professional make up products that are available here in Singapore, exclusively at EHA Skincare.

The powder comes in a really pretty rose shaped compact and although very understated, it is truly amazing as it kept my skin matte and flawless looking for the entire day. I absolutely love this product!!

So if you are looking for makeup or skin care products that actually care for your skin, pop on down to EHA Skincare on level 3 at Shaw Centre!

EHA Skincare is part of the EHA Medical Centre umbrella, which I guess would explain the high quality and skin caring products that they offer!

LADY@LXG: Discovers the Power of Light

"Recently my eczema went a little mental, and decided that it needed to spread all over my arms and legs, leaving me looking like I was suffering from chicken pox".

With two bouts of steroids not doing much, I even opted for TCM treatments, which helped, but didn't cure the itching and disgusting bumps and lumps and the food restrictions that were imposed on me during the treatment (no meat, no poultry, no eggs - which meant no cake, no pastries, no nothing with eggs, no shell fish and no spices) left me so hungry. The only bright light at the end of this dismal tunnel was the fact that I managed to finally lose 3 kilos (yay!).

EHA Clinic at Shaw Centre in Orchard is located on level #15-01
It was during my severe mutant stage when I bumped into Dr. Elias Tam from EHA Clinic in orchard  and he was kind enough to not shudder at the sight of my grotesqueness.

In fact, Dr.Tam even touched and examined my yucky bumps and suggested I try his Omega Light Machine. The clinic called me later that day and scheduled a weekly 20-minute session using yellow light to heal my red, itchy and inflamed skin.

Its been 3-weeks and the eczema on my face is almost all gone. Apart from very faint redness, the itching and weeping wounds have completely healed.

This is what inspired me to stick my arms into the machine today in the hope of trying to get my arms to look less hideous. I would have stuck my legs in, but it would require some contortion, so maybe another day perhaps.

The Omega Light machine has 4 different types of lights, each with its own benefits, from wound healing, collagen boosting and fading of pigmentation. I honestly cannot imagine how something so simple as light could have so many benefits, but does and I can see and feel the improvement.

Each session of Omega light is currently priced at $150 but if its your first time, the trial price is only $90. To find out more, call EHA Clinic at 6235 3325 or visit them at www.ehaclinic.sg

LADY@LXG: Blasting my fat cells with LIPOSONIX

Ok so while I wouldn't call myself fat, neither am I as skinny as I once was. A girl's got to face the fact that once she turns 30, everything she eats starts to miraculously turn up in inappropriate areas, like her tummy, arms or thighs. Unfortunately, I am not one of those lucky girls whose excess fat ends up in her boobs. Sadly, my boobs have decided to remain their original size, refusing to increase even by a centimetre (curse you bad genes!).

Anyway, as I was saying, while I may not be exactly fat, I am still very unhappy with certain bits on my body. I mean if we are totally honest, no matter how skinny we are, there are going to be bits that we don't love. After all, we are only human and we can't help being influenced by the media and pictures of very hungry looking models looking amazing in over-priced clothes.

After a VERY long time of hating my love handles and lower belly, I finally decided to do something about it. Working out was not really doing much, especially as I had a weakness for all things edible. So after much thought, I decided to speak to Dr. Elias Tam of EHA Clinic about my problem. Dr. Tam has treated my mother previously and I trusted him implicitly to give me the right advice regarding my love-handles.

Finding the right doctor, someone whom you can trust with your health and physical appearance is crucial. I know lots of people shop around for the cheapest clinic. I would seriously advise against this, simply because as the old adage goes "if you pay peanuts, you are going to get monkeys" and I don't think I want a bunch of monkeys messing with my face or body. I like Dr. Tam because he doesn't try to sell me anything. Instead he listens to what I have to say and then advises me on what treatment options are available. He is also very honest and I trust him, which is why I decided to go back to him for my treatment.

After photographing me from every angle and ensuring that I actually had enough fat in my problem areas to treat, Dr. Tam gave me the okay and I was good to go! I was so excited because I would finally be able to get rid of my muffin top!

After taking a couple of painkillers, the nurses prepped me and the treatment began. I must say that because I only had just enough fat to qualify for the treatment, it was quite painful. Its quite ironic that the more fat that you have, the less pain you will experience. So anyway, certain areas were quite painful and I had to grit my teeth and stop myself from asking them to stop, because if I could just bear with the pain for the duration, in three months, I would lose 1-inch from my love-handles. Thats enough of a motivation to grin and bear with it I reckon. I am also so thankful that Dr.Tam chatted with me about everything under the sun, because it helped distract me from the pain, so thank you doctor, you rock!

Its only been 1 month since I had my treatment and I can see so much improvement, and this is even though I have been snacking uncontrollably and have even gained 2 kilos, so I am quite impressed.

If you have fat and wobbly bits that no amount of exercise and diet can help improve, I would really suggest you give Liposonix a try.

For the month of October (2015), Liposonix is priced at $200 for a minimum of 5 squares. Simply call EHA Clinic on 6235 3325 for more details. For invaluable beauty and skin care tips, like their Facebook page.

LADY@LXG: Mum's Radiesse and Botox makeover at EHA Clinic

“I once laughed at the vanity of women of thirty or forty who whitened their ruddy old skin with lead, but now I know such salves are not disguises for old crones who wish to catch a young husband. Instead they are only a mask we wear so that we can, for a little while, still recognize ourselves.”                            - Rebecca Johns, The Countess

Last year, as a surprise birthday gift to my mother, I treated her to some much needed facial fillers. You can read more about it here: Mum's Birthday treat with Radiesse. Although she is in her mid 60's, my mother (unlike me) has really lovely fair and relatively flawless skin. After much nagging, she is now even taking collagen supplements, which has greatly improved the texture of her skin, but age, neglect, gravity and genetics has left her with sagging jowls, pigmentation and wrinkles, which I felt compelled to eradicate with the help of modern aesthetic medicine.
Because she was really comfortable after her first filler experience last year with Dr. Tam from EHA Clinic, I decided to schedule her next session there as well. Personally, I think its important to find a doctor you like and trust and then stick to them. That way, they know your medical history and concerns and can help recommend treatments that suit you.

Immediately after the injections of filler and botox, my mum's skin looked noticeably smoother. Her crows feet and deep forehead wrinkles were instantly a thing of the past, while her marionette lines, which are normally quite prominent, were also greatly reduced. Based on her experience from her last filler (a little over a year ago) she said that her skin and face looked its best, around three-months after the injections. Thats because, thats around the time when Radiesse stimulates the body to create its own collagen.

After the procedure, she experienced slight bruising and swelling around the injection sites and mild discomfort once the effects of the numbing cream wore off. But the discomfort only lasted the first day. The treatment she said was mostly painless and all she had was topical numbing cream, so I am quite impressed. I think it has a lot to do with the doctor's skill, as I have heard horror stories of painful fillers from my friends, which is why I was careful about finding the right doctor and clinic for my mum.

The photos below are of my mum directly after the treatment. EHA clinic

If you would like to treat yourself or someone you love, do give Dr. Elias Tam at EHA Clinic a call. The doctor and his staff are very down to earth and helpful. Because it was our first experience with Botox, we had many questions and the doctor was very helpful and patient. We paid $400 for the botox and $1,500 for the Radiesse filler. The effects vary on each individual, but on average Radiesse can last up to a year, while botox will need to be touched up after around four to six months. For more information, call EHA Clinic on 6235 3325 or visit them at #15-01 Shaw Centre (Orchard).

LADY@LXG: EHA RESTORE

I am a huge fan of EHA Clinic’s Japan-made line of skin care products. The range is not extensive, but they have all the basics that you require, from a day cream, eye cream, enzymatic exfoliator, a 24-hour sunscreen and now their very latest introduction; their night cream.

Because I have congested but dehydrated skin, I need to ensure that I get adequate hydration, but not too much as to block my pores, which is why I love their latest night cream Restore. This is a gel-cream hybrid that is light as water and melts into your skin. The best part; because its made in Japan, it is perfectly suited for Asian skin.

This anti ageing, whitening and hydrating moisturiser retails at $88 for a 50ml tub and EHA Clinic has been kind enough to sponsor a tub to one lucky winner!

EHA Restore is available exclusively at EHA Clinic 1 Scotts Road, #15-01 Shaw Centre, 228208 Singapore. Tel. (+65) 6235 3325.
